From our first session, Jakarta took the time to understand my health, lifestyle, and goals rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach. What has impressed me most is her ability to make it all practical and achievable. I’m eating healthy now and actually enjoying it!

Common questions

Eating disorder dietitian FAQ.

Do I need to see other professionals as well?

Eating disorder care usually works best with a team, which often includes a GP and a psychologist alongside your dietitian. We can work with your existing providers.

Will you make me weigh myself or count calories?

No. Weight and calorie counting are not the focus of our appointments. We talk about what your body needs and how to get there safely.

I am not sure I have an eating disorder. Can I still book?

Yes. You do not need a diagnosis to talk to a dietitian about worries around food. If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

Can I have appointments online?

Yes. Appointments are available by telehealth from anywhere in Australia, or in clinic across QLD and the NT.

Do I need a referral to book?

Not to book privately, you can call or fill in the form yourself. You do need a referral from your GP if you are using Medicare or DVA, and we can tell you what to ask for.
