From our first session, Jakarta took the time to understand my health, lifestyle, and goals rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach. What has impressed me most is her ability to make it all practical and achievable. I’m eating healthy now and actually enjoying it!

Common questions

Gut health dietitian FAQ.

Can an IBS dietitian help with IBS?

Yes. We work with a lot of people living with IBS and can help identify potential food triggers, manage symptoms and build a nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle.

What is the low FODMAP diet?

A short-term approach that may help reduce bloating, abdominal pain and altered bowel habits in people with IBS. We guide you through each stage safely, including reintroduction, to find your individual triggers.

Do I need to avoid gluten if I have IBS?

Not necessarily. Some people notice gluten-containing foods trigger symptoms, but it's often other carbohydrates called FODMAPs that are responsible. We work out what is affecting your digestion before recommending any restriction.

Can nutrition help with bloating?

Bloating has many causes, including food intolerances, eating habits, fibre intake and digestive conditions. We identify what is contributing to your symptoms and build practical strategies from there.

How long does it take to improve gut health?

Everyone is different. Some people notice improvements within a few weeks, others need longer depending on their symptoms and any underlying condition. We keep adjusting your plan as things improve.

Do I need a referral to book?

Not to book privately, you can call or fill in the form yourself. You do need a referral from your GP if you are using Medicare or DVA, and we can tell you what to ask for.
